The City and Borough of Yakutat is an isolated area along the Gulf of Alaska, about 225 miles northwest of Juneau. In 2010, the US Census stated the population was 662, making it the 9th least populated county in the nation. Like most areas of Southeast Alaska, Yakutat has no road access. Yakutat covers an area about 6 times the size of the state of Rhode Island! Yakutat is home to Hubbard Glacier, which is North America’s largest tidewater glacier. Yakutat has a subarctic climate and competes with Ketchikan for the wettest “city” in the U.S.
